Chess is a traditional strategic board game that is often taught at a young age to a child by their father or mother or grandparent. A tradition passed on from generation to generation, in which many battles are fought on the board and the memories treasured.

Chess Boards
Chess boards are the battlefields upon which the strategic game of chess is played. There are flat chess boards that have simple elegance and beauty, as well as boards with inbuilt storage for the chess pieces. This storage is accessed via one or two drawers or a lid and some are even lockable. The storage is typically lined with a plush covering like silk or felt, with some also being compartmentalised so as to keep each chess piece separate from the others. The chess boards in this collection are all large with sizes from 40cm (16 inches) to 50cm (20 inches) for each side. The materials and finishes of the chess boards include walnut, mahogany, maple, carbon fibre and leather. Chess Pieces
Chess pieces (chessmen) are the soldiers or warriors in the battle of chess and the style of the chess pieces chosen defines the battle scene. Will it be Medieval Warriors, Dragons, Futuristic Diamond-cut towers, Good & Evil from Lord of the Rings, Castle soldiers or cute Australian Animal chess pieces? Whichever the style, the quality of workmanship is high with many coming from the House of Dal Rossi.
The chess pieces in our collection are made from several primary materials including glass, plastic, wood, resin and metal. The finishes include high gloss, mirror, satin and natural with colours including Black & White, wood tones, gold & silver, copper & bronze and bold Red & Black. The pieces range in size from Kings of 60mm to 135mm with even larger available on special orders. Weight is also a factor with heavier metal pieces giving the game and each move more substance.
